Blackjack: Etiquette.

The game of blackjack in the casino has long since been reserved for the gambling elite. Nevertheless, anybody can access the tables freely, but that does nopt mean that you will not gain anything from following a few simple rules of etiquette and to learn the traditional manners associated with blackjack.  If you are a bit worried about how to behave at the table then you are perfectly within your rights to watch what is happening at the various blackjack tables, but remember not to take a seat, only the players are allowed to sit at the table. 

Entering into a game:if you decide to take the plunge and sit yourself down at the table, make it known to the croupier between two hands that you are joining the table, saying hello to the collection of other players will also stand you in good stead. Do not hesitate to inform yourself precisely of the particular rules of blackjack that they are employing at the casino in which you have chosen to play- if you are in doubt of the rules.  

Leaving a tip:This is often a subject of conversation with regards to casino etiquette, do you have to give the croupier a tip? The rules vary from country to country, and possibly from casino to casino; in England it is forbidden to give the croupier a tip, whereas the French culture requires the croupier to be given a tip, as does the USA. Notably, if you have a good run at the table, then you should reflect this in the tip that you give, providing you are in a casino which allows tipping, but do not hold your breath for the croupier to change the rules in your favour! 

Do Not Touch The Cards:Once the cards have been dealt you should, under no circumstances, touch the cards, only the croupier has the authority to touch them, this means that a whole host of problems are overcome, there will be fewer accusations of cheating, especially that which is concerned with card marking.  In most cases the cards will be quite far out of reach which makes touching them difficult. You are not allowed to retract your bet once the cards have been issued…but this should be obvious to all those who understand the rules of blackjack, which you can find in the blackjack section of this site.
