Common myths associated with blackjack:

You have to be a mathematical genius in order to count cards:
Reality: Card counting does not consist of memorising all the cards in the deck, or even to follow how many high value cards, low value cards or medium value cards have been dealt.

The basis of card counting is being able to know how to add and subtract the number 1: +1 -1 +1 +1....that isn't too hard, is it? This is what is literally called counting, no matter who you are, if you have the intellectual capacity oto add 1 and 1 you will be able to pull off the card counting technique, so practically anyone can learn to card count.

The Martingale technique is infallible:
No known blackjack technique can transform a losing game into a winning game. No martingale system, or betting system exists in blackjack in the same way that they may for other casino games, it is enough that you have the opportunity to bring about a player advantage over the casino, but you will lose some money in the course of a game.

Using a new pack of cards will disadvantage the player:
The utilisation of a new pack of cards will be less favourable for the player. The reason? The cards in a new packet are ordered by colour and series. The casinos possess a shuffling technique that assures the cards are well shuffled at the opening of a game.

Your placement at the table will give you an advantage- or not, and influences the croupiers game:
Your placement at the table does not have any importance in blackjack, although for other games, such as poker it does. If you are playing using the Blackjack Basic Strategy, you will get the same odds in any of the seats around the blackjack table in the long term. The position after the croupier, considered as the most favourable place, is a myth. In the same fashion as this myth, if the player before the croupier hits and goes over or falls short, they do not cause the rest of the table to lose, they have no bearing whatsoever on the next card that the croupier hits.
