Card Counting: Hi/Opt I & II Technique.

Hi-Opt Card Counting System:

The Hi-Opt I & II card counting techniques are of the equalised type, thus, once all the cards have been dealt then the card count will be 0.

For those players who are going to play with either 1 or 2 decks this is the simple card counting technique for dealing with the Aces in the pack.

When you play against a single deck you await the deal of an Ace by the quarter of the dealt pack per Ace, in a normal distribution.

For example, if one quarter of the cards have been dealt and no Ace has been dealt yet, the rest of the deck is very ‘rich' in Aces. For the reasons of considering your wagers you can add a temporary +1 to your count.

In the same fashion, if two Aces have been distributed in the first quarter then the deck is ‘poor', you can lower the number of your count in order to establish your wagers and whether they will pay off, because the chances of getting a blackjack has been greatly reduced.

As there are only four Aces to follow in a game with one deck, to omit the aces in the count permits you to improve the fashion in which you play your hands. This system s very mentally exhaustive, it is advised to use it only when you are playing with one or two decks, and for games which use more then just stick to the Hi/Lo system.

Values of the cards in the Hi-Opt 1 card counting system:

Cards: 2,  3,  4,    5,   6,  7,  8,  9,  10,  J,  Q,  K, A
Value: 0, +1, +1, +1, +1, 0, 0, 0, -1, -1, -1, -1, 0

Values of the cards in the Hi-Opt II card counting technique:
Cards:  2,   3,   4,  5,   6,   7,   8, 9, 10,  J,  Q,  K  A
Value: +1, +1, +2, +2, +1, +1, 0, 0, -2, -2, -2, -2, 0

Equalised System:
This card counting system is equalised, thus once all the cards have been counted the total count will be 0 (if it isn't then you've made a mistake or the cards are not full decks).

True Count:
In order to determine the true count, divide the total obtained by the number of decks remaining to be dealt in order to establish what the advantages are.
