Later, during the movement of people across Europe during the Middle Ages, the game crossed the Mediterranean and was baptised by the French "risk" or "hazard". During the interminable wars between France and England during the 13th and 14th centuries, the English cavaliers brought the game home to England as a game of chance.

When the game arrived on British soil, the smaller portions of the overall game became known as Crabs, and over the years the language was distorted and evolved and it became known by the name Craps.

The table only includes a single extremity because this is all that the player will need. The pass line is a long and wide band of white, skirting the exterior edge of the craps table. It is on the surface of the table that players can place their bets in order to effectuate a pass line bet.

Above the pass line, there is another line more acute than the first (it is intersected/stopped by the big 6/big8). It is on this portion of the table that the don't pass bets are presented. In effective, this represent the inverse of the pass line bet, this type of bet is really for the more advanced players as the results are harder to obtain. The field bet is a bet that wins fairly often, a player who bets on this is saying that the dice will be a 2, 3, 4, 9, 10, 11 or 12, so you have a strong chance of winning.
