Poker and Psychology.

Indicating signs in poker are normally associated with the physical comportment of the players sitting around a table, and which communicate to their opponents the approximate strength of their hands.

Indicating signs are as relevant to online players as they are to those who play in bricks and mortar casinos, and they allow the dedicated decipherer of non-verbal communication to obtain a wealth of information on their opponents' game.

Indicating signs for online poker:
1. In poker limit, if a player raises rapidly after the flop this indicates that they have a strong pair.
2. A bad player who reflects for a long-time holds a weak hand and is deciding what to do.
3. In general, if somebody thinks for a long time and then raises, they are not bluffing.
4. Somebody who raises at the preflop but who folds at the flop if somebody bets is probably in tilt.

Indicating signs for real world poker:
1. When a bad player covers their mouth, this means that they probably have a good hand are trying to cover a smile.
2. Trembling hands often means that a player is anxious. They could also be trying to bluff or have a very good hand.
3. A player, who reaches for his glass to drink, is probably fairly anxious if they do it often.
4. When a bad player stares at you, they are trying to bluff.
5. If a flop arrives and a player looks instantly at their chips, they probably have a good hand.

If you are playing a game of no-limit poker (with a bank roll of $100 or less), we would advise you to utilise these psychology techniques. A bluff at the flop, can, from time to time, work, but your opponents will win a lot of your money with cards as relatively weak as a double pair.

In these cases, you have to wait, establish a good hand, and put into the pot the same amount as is already in their.

When you begin playing games with more money (a bank roll of $200 or more), psychology techniques play an even more important role, especially if there is a lot of money on the table (more than 100x the big blind).

Firstly you must categorise your opponents:

1. The Fish: these types of players only pay attention to their own hands and not those of the other players. If you place a large bet and if they have a bad hand, they will fold. If you place a large bet and they hold a strong pair, they will follow you as long as you do not scare them too much (forcing them to go all in, for example). They bluff very infrequently.
2. Weak but tight players; these individuals behave similarly to the fish, but less often. They do not want to lose any money to a strong pair, unless they think that you are a manic player. They bluff well, but not too often so that they can trap you later.
3. The Sheriff; these players are a little like the fish, but they are competent enough to know that the only hand they can beat is a bluff. On the other hand, they believe that other players bluff often and that you will follow.
4. Tight- aggressive: these players follow some good strategies. On the other hand, their ability to play no-limits poker varies greatly in accordance to their ability to read their opponents. In general, they prefer wagering over following. Against these players, you have to change the rhythm of your game. You also have to trap them when you have a strong hand and raise them. By changing the pace of your game continually, you can intimidate them in a way that makes them play in the weak-aggressive manner. Pay attention to the strategies that they employ and use the recommended anti-thesis.
5. Hyper-aggressive: these players like the fast pace hustle and bustle side of poker. It is practically impossible to know if they are betting or hold the best cards, the majority of the time. These players can be dangerous, but they force you to trap them. Though it is a good strategy to test them while raising, do not do it too often, because they understand what you are doing. Do not reveal your hand when you raise. Play your hands differently, and trap them when you hold a good hand.
6. Players in tilt; these players are really in tilt. They will bet all their chips. The best strategy is to let them bet because they will fold if you bet and they do not have a good hand.

How do you play against the different players?
In general, you have to use psychology against the tight-aggressive and the hyper-aggressive players. The other players are predictable so it is not necessary to delve too deeply.

You should not allow yourself to be intimidated by hyper-aggressive players, and you should not be scared when a tight-aggressive player bets because that is what they want from you. You have to re-invent your image continuously with these players.

It is necessary to ensure that you are difficult to classify. When you change your rhythm, pay attention to the small details listed below.

When you bluff:
During you game of online poker, if you always bluff at the flop, the other players will begin to follow you in the hope that you show your strength at the turn. Therefore, it is better to vary the moments when you bluff.

Your game preflop for certain types of hand:
At the preflop, you should not always do the things that are technically correct. Even if you want to see the flop for not very much with a small pair, you should raise from time to time in order to confuse others and gain an advantage. It is especially a good idea to do this with a medium pair and when you are positioned as one of the last players to play in a round.

The amount of increase of your bets;
The most important psychological techniques regard the amount at which you increase your bets. You should not bet in reference only to the strength of your hand, but also in reference to those of your opponents.
