Slightly Funny Poker Stories.

If you’re an old on the poker circuit, then you probably have plenty of stories to tell about your exploits, some funny, some sad. Here we like the funny stories best! There are the old faithful stories that do the rounds, everyone’s heard of them and they do the circuits, they always involve a friend of a friend...Maybe you’ve been sat around a table, it’s all quiet, then nature pops its head in the room? You try to stifle a laugh, and the more you try, the harder it is to contain, until finally you let out a massive snort...this kind of behaviour is synonymous with answering your mobile phone whilst you’re meant to be saying your wedding vows, a big no-no in the etiquette of the poker salon.

This article is, therefore, going to describe a few of these potentially embarrassing and funny stories and help to brighten your day, wherever and whenever (and probably most likely whether) you happen to be reading this article.

In a real-world casino, a group of close friends were playing poker into the early hours. As always, one of them could not control his poker face; his manifestation of his inability to hide his game plan was to giggle ridiculously. On this particular night, they fuelled themselves with copious amounts of alcohol. Giggling uncontrollably, this particular young man, decided to keep raising; against the advice of his friends and anyone with half a mind. The showdown arrived, and his giggling escalated, there may even have been a snort or two involved...then he decided to announce to the table his cards, he had a straight, and placed them on the table (Q-K-2-8-8). The other people looked at his cards and couldn’t help letting out giggles of their own, including the straight-faced croupier. They then continued to inform the man that he did not have a straight at all, he argued his point, saying an King, Queen, Ace, 2, 3 were clearly winners, how could they not agree? He told them they needed to look into the rules a little more and was indignant (actually, he wasn’t, he was still jolly and drunk) that the croupier didn’t know the rules properly. One of them pulled out their mobile phone to record the whole thing for their friend, he just could not see that he had the wrong cards, and wouldn’t agree until the next morning. Needless to say, they never let him forget the night.

Meanwhile, at another poker table, at another casino, and probably on another day there were two people left in the round, the board was showing 5-6-9-7-2. The first played chose to raise, the second player raised too, then the first raised again. The second player decided not to carry on with the raising, and called instead, he revealed a 9-8. The first player then showed is K-8. The second player said that this was a chop, but the first player said it wasn’t because he had a King kicker. The second player argued the chop made the kicker irrelevant. In the end, the bickering got to the dealer and he interrupted the hissy fit to tell the first player that both players had essentially drawn as they had the same straight. In the end, the first player stomped off in a mood and didn’t collect any winnings! All that playing and arguing for nothing!

A woman and man were both playing the same hand, K-A, at the pot, the woman chose to bluff, when they revealed the cards, the man was surprised that the woman had the same hand and commented that they did, his friend piped up and said that they weren’t the same, the woman had the K-A and a pair of balls.
