5 Mistakes to Avoid When Playing Online Poker
Mistake #1: Playing Too Many Hands
When people log in and sit down to a table, this means they want to play! A common mistake of beginners is playing whatever they are dealt, not being selective about opening hands. Be selective, choose good opening hands.
Mistake #2: Playing above your means
This should go without saying. Don't play with more than you can afford to lose!
Mistake #3: Becoming emotional at the table
Bad bets happen. Annoying opponents and losing sessions happen. Learn to let these things slide by. Becoming emotional causes you to stop thinking logically and rationally.
Mistake #4: Ignoring etiquette
Pay attention to the accepted etiquette of the room you choose to play in. You don't want to BE the annoying opponent.
Mistake #5: Imitating others
When playing online poker, you don't know if the person you're playing against is an expert, or a beginner like yourself. Don't try and imitate other players, you may be imitating a fool! Don't try and imitate the pros you see on television either. They are pros, and there are many things being factored into their decisions for each situation. They might not make that decision in YOUR situation. Just remember...don't try this at home!
Now you know what not to do. Follow these simple guidelines and your Poker playing experience can be much more enjoyable!
