Roulette, an Overview of Some Winning Techniques and Probabilities:

                 

The following is an anecdotal experience by a professional Roulette player, although he does not play online, he has evolved his game play in casinos worldwide, he belongs to a group of players for which the game of Roulette is more predictable than it would seem to the uninitiated. Here, he will share some of his secrets regarding playing Roulette to win. We will call him Mr X because he does not want his identity revealed, and thus become well known.

There are two types of Roulette, those with one zero and those with a double zero. The ‘edge' given to the casino is slightly larger for the double zero version of the game. The extent to which the casino has an edge is dependent on the casino itself, but with a single zero it is always lower, because the player only loses half the wager to risks on, for example, red/black, even/odds, and high/low. In some games of Roulette, the player can lose the totality of the bet if the ball lands on zero. This is therefore something to note prior to play.

One number presents a probability of 1:37 and since the gains will be 1:35 the casino reserves the difference for profit. This cannot be changed during a normal game where a player is using extreme probabilities. For example, waiting until red has come up six times and then placing the following bet on the black. If the black does no come up the first time, the player should double the bet that the next one out will be black, if a player loses again, they then double again and so on and so forth. This is known as the Martingale Strategy. This method, however will lead to ruin, even though at any given point a player will only need to double his bet to end up with plus one unit of what they began with, it is not really worth taking the risks. To win one token, you might have to sacrifice anything from; 4, 8, 16, 32, 64, 512...for one unit the risk is too big. If you really want to win, according to Mr X, players should use a technique that is more moderate. For a distribution of 50/50 red or black, the distribution series is as so:

If you consult the above information you can see that there are as many series to 6 as there are beyond 6, it is then possible to wager on the continuation of a series than on the actual stop. The probability is the same. Many people choose to follow a series for the length that it lasts, according to that reasoning, it is impossible to know how long a series will last, but to leave it before it is complete is a shame.

Others opt for a completely different technique, which is more intuitive. It is a question of discovering a player who often loses (perhaps after he has won a few rounds) and then to simply bet the opposite of whatever the losing player bet. Sometimes it just so happens that a person is naturally unlucky, if you can come across such a person and you keep betting the opposite, you may well walk away quite well off for a days work.

Some good advice is to never bet more than you can afford to lose during each individual spin. Never bring a credit card to the casino. Fix yourself a limit prior to arriving at the casino, and stick to it, always leave once you have reached your limit.

It can also be the case where you begin your night at the casino by winning. A good technique if this happens is to split the winnings, putting a portion in your pocket and wagering the rest, and continue to do this throughout your winning streak, then if you do hit a lull in play, you will have a safety cushion saved from earlier wins.

Another possibility for winning at Roulette is when the wheel presents with a defect and so this creates a scenario where some numbers are more likely to come up than probability would suggest.
