Methods Best Avoided in Sporting Bets:
You will find on the internet with sites that deal with sporting bets that they will offer you different methods that will allow you to win more often, and greater amounts, when you gamble on sporting events.
We would like to warn you about some of these techniques, particularly those that are known as half-time/full time, in English, or more simply, the Martingale Technique.
Even though these techniques are so seductive in nature, they do not really offer any scientific validity.
These methods claim to be able to offer you, for free; techniques for winning that will make you win thousands of dollars/pounds, via sports bets...
The webmaster will tell you that these tried and tested methods have been used by them for years (they should be rich by now though, shouldn't they?), they offer the techniques to you for free, seeing as this does not disadvantage them in the slightest...on the contrary...on the contrary.
Reflect a little: if these techniques were effective, bookmakers would have realised this a long time ago and updated their gambling methods; on the contrary, because they have not done this, you should assume that the advice given on certain websites actually helps bookmakers to make money. And the sites that are advising you!!!
We are going to take a look at one of these miraculous methods now...
The aim here is to demystify the techniques for you by taking the following example:
The half-time/full-time method;
This method involves betting on;
1. football
2. on a match with 9 possible results
3. According to the moment in the match where you find yourself;
a. Result at half-time
b. And at full-time
c. Victory
d. Draw
e. Defeat
As specified below:
1/1: the home team leads at the half-time and wins the game.
X/1: tie at half-time and the home team wins the game.
2/2: the away side leads at half-time and wins.
1/x: the home team leads at half time and the match is drawn.
X/2: the match is drawn at half-time and the away team win the match
2/x: the away team leads at half-time and the final result is a draw.
1/2: the home team leads at half-time and the final victory goes to the away team.
X/X: the match is drawn at both half-time and full-time.
2/1: the away team leads at half-time and the overall victory goes to the home team.
You wager on 6 of the 9 possible results and those six must be the ones with greater odds than 6, because if you manage to get one of these 6 different results, you will be reimbursed the amount you bet in the first place, and therefore you will be a winner.
You will therefore have a 9 out of 6 chance of winning or of at least drawing even, which is a 66% chance! A 2 in 1 chance!! Amazing isn't it?.............................................. Well, er no, actually!!
You have to keep in mind that the strongest odds have, theoretically, the highest chance of winning.
Thus the probability (i.e. 66%, 2:3) is actually inaccurate because each of the different 9 possibilities do not actually have an equal chance of occurring, because here we are dealing with sporting bets, where teams are more or less advantaged, and the odds reflect this, it is not like betting on the roll of a dice.
In order to well understand this point we are making, consider the fact that the probability of the losing team in a championship will win against the leading team, the odds of the win will not actually be 1:2!!
And it is to the purpose of distinguishing the team's chances of winning/losing with which the odds are concerned...
As we explained on another article (see sports bet odds), the lower the ration between the odds, the more chance the team has of winning e.g. 1:2 has a higher chance of winning than 1:3.
Suppose, however, that the above technique is correct and you have a 66% or 2:3 chance of winning, you still have a 33% or 1:3 chance of losing, and that is still quite risky!
Therefore, this technique has absolutely no mathematical or scientific support for working (and even less sporting logic because you wager on the odds with most return, but less chance of winning).
Thus, in fact, this "method", and even though some sites present it as a technique, in this case the words "method" and "technique" have a Cartesian undertone: in it is nothing!!!
As usual, if luck is on your side (which can happen with sporting bets- sport is full of surprises) you will win, otherwise...you will lose you bet, if luck decides to take a holiday on your money!
Betting on a tennis match by pitting the classified leader and the classified loser and you will be much more likely to win!!
We hope that we have enlightened you a little to at least one of the pitfalls that you could succumb to if you take the advice offered as tried and tested means of winning sports bets...if they were true the bookmakers would know about it and would do something about it, or they would risk going bankrupt very quickly......does this ever happen? Maybe the world should employ a bookmaker to look after the economy; they are probably more savvy to the ways of losing and saving money.
Techniques that are likely to help in the world of the sporting bet:
1. The sure bet.
2. The value bet.
3. understanding the teams thoroughly
4. understanding the teams latest results
5. The state of the grounds where the teams are playing.
The method for winning a lot of money on sports bets is to calculate the probabilities of the outcome of sporting events in a much more precise manner than the bookmakers have established the odds. But do not forget.......never forget......this is their vocation!!
The techniques that you should utilise are dependent on the following:
1. The type of sport you are betting on.
2. The amount of money you have to wager, or the bankroll, as they call it in poker.
3. On your understanding of the sport.
4. To bet on events with two possible outcomes and not three.
5. To understand thoroughly the different types of sporting bet.
