Casino Moons Review

Casino Moons is owned and managed by the Engage Entertainment Group, a company which operates under the license issued by the government of Costa Rica. It has been in the online gaming business since 1999 and has since welcomed millions of players with their generous promotional offers. Reading through their experiences, it seems like it’s a case of either love or hate, so while many of the gamers appreciate what Moons has to offer, it might not be everyone’s cup of tea. Let’s see if it’s mine.

clean and elegant

First Impressions: User-friendly simplicity

The site is pretty standard-looking for an online casino, with dark grey background which makes the colourful promotional offers and game images pop. It also looks very clean and easy to read, making me think I’ll enjoy this experience. At first I get slightly distracted seeing what seems to be a mega welcome offer, but will check out a few of the other things first. It looks like the tabs in the main menu will provide majority of the information I’m looking for. If not, there is a link to an FAQ list and Live chat at the bottom of the page. It also says that more than 3.5 million users trust this casino, and so can I. Based on my first impressions, I’m thinking it’s probably true.

Back to the Mega Welcome Offer

Ok, so first of all, you can pick up a $25 Free Bonus as soon as you register. This amount needs to be wagered a minimum of 75 times before you can make a withdrawal of up to $100. The bonus was added to my account immediately and I was almost off to play it, but fortunately remembered there was some work to be done beforehand. Like check T&C, so I can tell you that even if you get lucky with this bonus, you’ll have to have at least one approved deposit transaction before you can request a withdrawal.

What first caught my eye during my Casino Moons review, however, was the offer of 500% match on the first 5 deposits. Sounds grand, doesn’t it?? However, I’m having a bit of a problem locating exact terms, so perhaps Moons is not as user-friendly as I initially thought. According to customer support agent, 1st deposit bonus amount is limited to $6,000. Generally, to become eligible for this offer, a minimum $25 deposit is needed and bonus is subject to 25x rollover (bonus+deposit amount). Still sounds good, but why do I have to work so hard to learn these things?

Other Goodies Available

On Wednesdays, you can either grab a 150% on deposits up to $200, or pick up 250% match on deposits of $500 or more. It doesn’t’ show me the max limits and, as it’s not a Wednesday, I can’t give it a try. Standard wagering requirements of 25x bonus + deposit amount apply.

Like in all other online casinos, not all games contribute equally to play-through requirements. Slots will provide 100% contribution, Video Pokers 20%, and various other table games 10%. The exception is Blackjack which contributes a measly 2.5%.

Casino Moons Review Bonuses and Tournaments
plenty of tournaments to participate in

If you enter the High Stakes Weekly Tournament, you’ve got a chance to walk away with a grand prize of $75,000. It will take you a minimum of $1,000 to participate, and each $1 bet will earn you 1 tournament point. In the end, players get ranked according to the accumulated number of points and top 100 rewarded by $1,000 to $75,000 in cash. Wow, imagine finishing first, or even among the top 5!

If you find the above entry fee a bit too much, by making a $75 entry deposit you can join a daily battle for a share of $15,000 prize pot. In this tournament you’ll be playing a classic Jackpot game and compete for one of 15 cash prizes. Though a bit smaller than those above, obviously.

Moons is clearly a fan of tournaments. Among many others, there’s also one for Roulette fans, taking place every week from Monday to Sunday and awarding the top 10 players with cash prizes of up to $5,000. Smoking Aces Blackjack Tournament is also targeting table game fans, giving them a chance to win as much as $21,000 each month. In short, if you love playing against other gamers, Casino Moons is where you need to be.

Once you register, you will automatically become a member of the Casino Moons’ Rewards and VIP Program. By playing for real money, you’ll be climbing up 6 levels, starting at Bronze Club VIP and finishing at the Ultimate + Club. Among the respective perks, Moons lists bigger bonuses, exclusive tournaments and promotions, access to exclusive events and, get this, greater variety of games. Never seen games being a perk before.

Deposits & Withdrawals: Standard List + Extras

When it comes to making a deposit, the usual suspects are included. You can use Visa, MasterCard and Maestro, Skrill, Neteller, ecoPayz, Paysafecard and Sofort. Additionally, there are a few options I rarely see, such as American Express, Cashlib (virtual voucher) and Flexepin (pre-paid voucher). The minimum deposit amount is $25.

Casino Moons Review Deposit Methods
good selection of deposit methods

When you’re ready to withdraw your winnings (you lucky bugger), you’ll be able to cash out a minimum of $50, and that only provided you use an E-wallet. This is also the quickest option you have, thanks to 24-hour processing time. Paper check will take a week to deliver, allows a minimum $300 withdrawal and comes with a fee. If you opt for using Bank Transfer, you will not be able to collect less than $500 and will have to pay $28.75 fee. Is it just me, or does this casino seem to be oriented towards high-rollers?

Anyhow, the maximum withdrawal limit changes according to your VIP level. Depending on how much you’re spending, you’ll get to cash out between $1,000 (mere mortals) to $35,000 (VIP Ultimate Plus gods) per week.

Are There Really More Than 1,000 Games Here? Nope

Now, while hopping about the site, I’ve seen Casino claim I can choose from “over 1,000 exciting games!“. But, bugger me, I can’t find anywhere close to this number. According to my count, there are less than 200 games on offer. Maybe the other 800 are available only to higher VIP levels? Ok, so I can see close to 200 games, but some are greyed out, meaning I don’t have enough money on my account to play (for cash). Since I’ve yet to spend my $25 sign-up bonus, they are basically telling me that about half of the library is off limits until I decide to boost my balance. Ouch! At least the poor little me can try all of the games out for free, but I need to log out first. Luckily no software needs to be downloaded, which is a blessing since I’m running low on disc space. However, if you do opt for the download version, you’ll be able to access additional games (though not 800).

Video Slots

As you may or may not know, I’m a huge fan of BetSoft slots and therefore happy to see more than 50 of their titles. Mr. Vegas, Birds, After Night Falls, The Slotfather… well, I guess we all know where I’ll be spending my welcome gift! If you’re not so into BetSoft (weirdo), you can try out one of the many Pragmatic Play titles, such as Journey to the West, 7 Monkeys, Lady of the Moon and The Catfather. Download clients will also be able to play a few games by Rival, including Scary Rich 3 which awards up to 666 free spins (yes, really, I didn’t accidentally press the figure too many times).

Classic Slots

This section is a home to 3-line and 5-line Bingo Slots by Pragmatic Play, a practical choice if you can’t decide which of the two games to play. There are also a few 1 liners, such as Black Diamond, Crazy Pizza and Fandangos. Each game image actually displays the number of paylines, which can be helpful when choosing which to play.

Jackpot Games

Funnily enough, there’s no separate section for progressive jackpot games . I guess those ‘free’ $25 was actually meant to pay me for all the digging I must do. So, if you frown on hard work and/or would prefer to win big amounts of cash in just a few seconds (not judging!), spin the reels of the aforementioned Bingo Slot, Diablo 13, Grave Grabbers, Transylvania or Sweet Surprise. I got this information from the friendly customer support agent (thanks Greg!), which is basically the only way, unless you’re familiar with all jackpot games out there by name. Total jackpot value currently stands at $1.5 million.

Casino Moons Live Games

Moons offers a limited selection when it comes to live games. There’s only 5 tables featured, including Super 6, Roulette, Blackjack and Baccarat. My measly $25 doesn’t get me a seat at any of them.

Casino Moons Table Games

There’s not that much to choose from when it comes to table games. Unless I need an urgent visit to an oculist, there are no poker games, only a few RouletteBlackjack and Baccarat variants. Instant play selection looks kind of poor. If you want more, you’ll have to go with download.

Video Poker

Half a dozen of video poker games are the only options poker fans will have to get entertained. They include the likes of Jacks or Better, Deuces Wild, Joker Poker and Pyramid Jacks. Pretty standard offering, at best.

Other Games at Casino Moons

Other games? What other games? No, wait, there are 3 (three): Keno, Casino War and a Scratch Card. I feel I’m being spoilt for choice.

Casino Moons Customer Support – Are We Speaking the Same Language?

My first experience is when Greg pops up in live chat window to offer his help. I love it when customer support agents are proactive and reach out to you first. He was helpful and responded quickly and to the point, until I asked about bonus term and got transferred to another agent (quickly, though). Now, Dan, on the other hand, replied with „what do you mean!“ on every second question I asked. And gave me contradictory answers. It took forever to get one simple information, and I’m not even entirely sure it’s accurate. What the heck??

Just so you know, support staff is available 24/7 and can be reached via live chat or email. As far as I can see, there is no phone option. And even if you happen to come across an agent who’s not sure about his facts or doesn’t speak the language as well as you’d like, at least you’ll get a laugh.

Desktop or Mobile

I like the way casino looks, feels and works on a big screen. Time to see how it functions on a mobile device. So I access the site via my Android tablet (you can also use an iOS device) and it looks good and just as easy to navigate. Selection of games is pretty decent, with about 120 slots and several table games. All the functionalities seem to be there and I can claim promotional offers, deposit additional cash and further develop my relationship with the customer support team via live chat.

Casino Moons Review Conclusion

To be honest, I had higher expectations when I first visited Casino Moons. It was partially due to thinking they offered over 1,000 games, only to find out less than 200 are actually available. If you are a slots fan, there is a decent selection to choose from (go BetSoft!), but it’s not the case for those who prefer to play other casino games. The promotional offers are really great, there are so many I’ve not even managed to cover them all above. While at first it seemed I’ll get all the relevant info quickly and with ease, it eventually took chatting with 2 different support agents to learn what I consider to be basic stuff. I’ll probably still use my free $25 bonus, but it’s not likely I’ll bookmark this site for future use.
