EuroMillions Winner Finally Steps Forward to Claim £123M

June 21st, 2019 5.00pm

After a rather dramatic week, the EuroMillions winner has finally stepped forward to claim the winnings – the draw’s third largest jackpot so far. The entire country was holding their breath, waiting for their fellow citizen to finally step forward and claim the whopping £123M, which is the largest winning in the history of the draw.

“Massive Winner Might Not Even Be Aware That They Are One of the Biggest National Lottery Winners Ever”

At one point, it was even speculated that the winner might not be aware of their good fortune. Camelot officials stated that the “champagne is on ice” and advised all the players to “triple check” their lottery tickets. At the time, no details were revealed to the public, and the only information disclosed was that the ticket was purchased at a retailer and not online. The specifics about the area were to be shared only if no claims were lodged in the days to follow.

The owner of the ticket has managed to hit all 5 numbers and the 2 Lucky Stars in the draw that took place on June 11 this year. Andy Carter, the senior advisor at the National Lottery has issued the following statement:

“It seems that this massive winner might not even be aware that they are one of the biggest National Lottery winners ever. A week has slipped by and winners may have been going about their everyday routine completely unaware of this amazing change of fortune. The ticket was bought in-store so players should check the places their usually keep their tickets and make sure they’ve checked them all. We have the champagne on ice and our fingers are crossed that the lucky winner comes forward to claim their win soon.”

Carter also added that their player-services team has a high level of expertise in assisting winners to adequately embrace their new-found wealth and start enjoying their new found VIP status as soon as possible.

“They will be on hand every step of the way to guide the ticket holder through the winning experience”, stated Carter.

A Sigh of Relief as the Lucky Winner Claims the Prize

Finally, approximately one week after the draw, Camelot notified the public that a UK winner has come forward to claim the prize. It is still unknown if the money will be released to a single person or a syndicate.

Although a bit late, the ticketholder was still within the allowed timeframe for claiming the winnings – the players have 6 months to request the jackpot. Once in the possession of the money, the winners will be included in the Sunday Times’s list of 1,000 richest people in the UK.

Even though EuroMillions tickets are available across 9 European countries, some of the largest jackpots have so far been recorded within the UK borders:

• A County Armagh couple won £114M on 2019 New Year’s draw
• Ade Goodchild, a Hereford resident, hit £71M in March 2019
• An anonymous winner won £35.2M in April 2019

A Major EuroMillions Change to Take Place in July This Year

As of July 2019, the percentage that goes towards the prize will be reduced from 42% to 30%, which means that more money will go towards the Big Lotto fund, while the amount of money for the pot will be reduced.

The players will not be affected by the upcoming changes and the UK Millionaire Maker prize will remain the same – £1M.

Otherwise, the rules are still the same – the winners will have 180 days (from the draw date) to verify their identity and claim the reward, and the unclaimed winnings will be allocated to Good Causes.
