Las Vegas is Third Most Popular Thanksgiving Destination

November 28th, 2022: When celebrating Thanksgiving dinners, many often think about stuffed turkey and family gatherings. But a trip to Las Vegas during this special event?  Thanksgiving and Las Vegas may seem like an odd combination for many, but in one survey, these two are a match made in entertainment heaven. According to a survey by AAA, Las Vegas is one of the most popular destinations for Thanksgiving travelers, ranking third behind Disneyworld and Disneyland. Two other surprising additions to the Top 10 are Chicago and Charlotte.

Thanksgiving is family time

Orlando and Anaheim top the AAA list for the third year, as they did last year and in 2019. Thanksgiving is one of the most important and busiest times of the year, and AAA continues its tradition of compiling popular destinations. According to Paula Twidale, AAA’s Senior Vice President of Travel, “Thanksgiving is all about spending time with family and friends, so it’s no surprise that theme park destinations top the list, with entertainment and meals accessible within a resort”.

The top destinations in the list are hub cities, where airline traffic is the busiest. As a travel website and publication, AAA tracks flights and hotel bookings to understand how Americans travel and spend their holidays. According to the company, the average hotel booking costs are up by 8% compared to last year, but hotel prices in some cities, including Las Vegas, are lower this year. Local travel and tourism have been growing lately since travel restrictions have been lifted.

According to the representative from AAA, travelers are more confident to travel and explore, and big cities like Las Vegas are more than ready to provide accommodation.

Las Vegas is always ready for travelers

Las Vegas is the third most popular destination in this year’s Thanksgiving travel list. Although the Thanksgiving holiday is always a busy day, with road and airport congestion, it bodes well for Las Vegas. Lori Nelson-Kraft, senior vice president of communications of the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority (LVCVA) welcomes this projection. In a statement, Nelson-Kraft is proud to share the entertainment opportunities Las Vegas offers. The holidays are another opportunity for the city to host visitors and provide them with 24/7 entertainment.

Most popular casino and resorts destinations in Las Vegas

In Las Vegas, dozens of top hotels and casino resorts appeal to the needs and requirements of different types of travelers. Two of the most popular casinos and resorts in Las Vegas are The Venetian and The Palazzo. The casino’s most popular offering is the spa which covers 134,000 square feet. Visitors can enjoy over 150 spa services, including facials, scrubs, and massages.

The best destination for travelers who love playing slot machines is ARIA. The hotel boasts one of the largest sections for slot machines that include high-limit games. In its high-limit room called ‘SPIN’, some slot machines cost up to $5,000 per spin.

For non-gamblers out there, then the MGM Grand is the best destination. In addition to slots and table games, guests can visit Level Up, an arcade that appeals to adults. This fun zone features popular games such as billiards, Pop-A-Shot, and Pac-Man.
