January 16th, 2023: Mansion Group, a leading gambling operator based in Gibraltar, has announced its plans to close its UK-facing casinos. Its three popular casino brands- Mansion Casino, Slots Heaven, and Casino.com- now display a message announcing that they’re now closing and ending their operations.
According to multiple reports, these UK-facing sites will no longer accept deposit players from 17:00 GMT on 12 January 2023, and gameplay ends at 23:50 on the same day. The company advises its players who wish to withdraw their funds by 23:59 on April 12th.
Mansion moves to focus on casino brands in other licensed markets
After more than two decades of operations, the Mansion Group is closing down its gambling services for UK players. Its move to wind down the operations of the three online casinos comes less than a year after closing its UK sportsbook, MansionBet, in March 2022. According to a company representative, the announcement to close down the three online casinos will allow the team to boost its gambling operations by targeting Spain, Ontario, and other licensed markets.
In a statement, Mansion CMO Neil Gallacher shared that “Mansion’s focus in 2023 and beyond is to continue to double down on the most profitable markets where we currently operate while always seeking to explore emerging markets”.
He added, “The UK was, for many years, our core market, and we look forward to sharing 20 years of wonderful customer experiences with all our non-UK clients for many years to come”.
Mansion Group faces a different market and faces more challenges
Closing down its UK-facing online casinos is a difficult decision for the company. The Mansion Groupo has been operating in the UK market for over two decades, and it’s one market it has experience with. Mr. Gallacher said that the Group’s focus in 2023 and beyond is to continue investing in its most profitable markets while continually seeking other opportunities in emerging markets.
He admitted the UK was the Group’s core market for years, and they’re ready to spend the same amount of time with non-UK clients moving forward.
While the Group appears optimistic about this move, the industry has mixed feelings. With its complete and hasty exit from the UK market, confidence in the gaming company has dipped.
