Who Has the Most Mega Megaways?

Do you play Megaways? The gaming engine with the big name has taken over the slots world since they were launched by Big Time Gaming.

That Australian company is a relatively small fish in a lot of ways, but the Megaways system is massive and is now licensed to a slew of other slots companies who are racing to put out Megaways slots versions of their own biggest games.

It works by creating multiple ways to win with an expanding reel set. The games come with respins, extra reels, and usually have bigger prizes and tend to be more volatile than average slots.

But which megaways are the biggest hits with UK slots players?

Here’s a top 10.

1 – Bonanza Megaways

Bonanza Megaways

Big Time Gaming have had one really big hit with their own system and it’s this one, the second game they made with Megaways.

This western-themed game, complete with a diamond mining old codger and a mine train, set all the templates for the system: it has multiple ways to win, going up to 117,649, it has the atypical reel set with different sized symbols and a horizontal reel (a train line here) over the top of the reels delivering the biggest prizes. Cascading respins keep the prizes coming when you hit a winning set.

This game has been in the top 10 for months and months, since its release in 2016, and shows no sign of losing its place.

2 – Fishin’ Frenzy Megaways

Blueprint Gaming have had a few big Megaways titles, but their most popular one is based on the low-adrenaline pastime of fishing!

This is a remake of an older title and it was released in 2019. A big top prize but slightly lowered RTP (10,000-times stake with 95.02% RTP) delivers a volatile slot experience on 6-reels with loads of winning megaways. Bright blue and beautiful, the simple cartoon graphics are friendly and familiar.

3 – Gonzo’s Quest Megaways

This is the first really massive title to get a Megaways makeover. Gonzo’s Quest is from NetEnt and is their second-biggest title, despite being well over a decade old.

To put it into the Megaways way, NetEnt handed it over to Red Tiger, a company they bought for around £200 million just a couple of years ago. They obviously did a good job, and the son is now starting to rival its father for popularity.

4 – Madame Destiny Megaways

There are great figures – more than 96% RTP – on this mystery-themed game that takes the Megaways up and over 200,000!

Loads of reels and loads of symbols mean lots of potential winning combos. It’s highly volatile with a big top prize and nicely takes the Megaways system into the world of the occult.

5 – Aztec Gold Megaways

There’s a relatively low top stake of just £20 on this lovely little game from iSOFT Bet, their first to use the system.

They played it a bit safe here, with a familiar theme and relatively unspectacular but the engine has woven its magic and this is the company’s biggest hit by quite a margin.

6 – Reel Lucky King Megaways

The big cheerful face on Reel King games welcomes you to a familiar classic style but given a Megaways set-up.

This ditches the classic set up of most of the Reel King games (all by Inspired Gaming) to put the old favourite symbols – cherries, cards, fruits – on a set of six by seven reels.

This is a jackpot game, and there’s a lovely fruity prize of 12,500-times stake.

7 – Fluffy Favourites Megaways

Big prizes and a look so cute that it will rot your teeth is the mix that has made Fluffy Favourites by Eyecon the biggest set of titles in the world of bingo slots. These games are played by gamblers with a difference, often between timed bingo rounds. Stereotypically, bingo sites are also more welcoming to women, and there is probably some truth in that at least.

The Fluffy family is a big one, and now there’s a Megaways game, taking the stuffed town into the world of nearly 50,000 ways to win from February 2021. A 20,000-times stake top prize is very true to the Fluffy style, but a medium variance is unusual for a Megaways game and might make this candy-striped, stuffed-toy of a game more welcoming to newer players.

8 – Great Rhino Megaways

Pragmatic Play are also quite big users of the Megaways system, and this is their most popular game in this style, but only just.

It’s an African wildlife-themed effort in a popular style that was released in April 2020.

This is a full-on Megaways game with over 200,000 ways to win, high volatility, and a 20,000-times stake top prize. You can also double your chances of feature wins with a bigger stake.

9 – The Dog House Megaways

Pragmatic Play get another big hit with this beautifully fun and funny game that was released in July 2020. It’s a remake that makes the most of the humour of the illustration style that dog lovers will love.

There’s the high volatility and big prize (12,000-times stake) that is typical of Megaways games as well as lots of other extra features – there are multipliers everywhere you look for example.

10 – Buffalo Rising Megaways

This is from Blueprint games and is quite old for a Megaways game, having been released in October 2010.

It’s medium volatility and has a great RTP (96.5%) and a 10,000-times stake top prize to be won from hitting the right one of those 117,649 ways to win.

Themed on the American west it offers big prizes via cascading wins and unlimited multipliers and has some of the nicest looking wildlife graphics you’ll find on the market.

Megaways keeps delivering wins and it keeps delivering hits. New games in the style are due shortly from NetEnt, Barcrest, Triple Edge Studios, Scientific Games, Quickspin, and 1X” Gaming, and there’s a lot expected from Pirate’s Plenty Megaways (a remake of Red Tiger’s biggest hit before the NetEnt takeover) and a new version of Bonanza with a Megapays engine!
